The Austin Air Allergy Machine Junior Air Purifier takes the technological advancements that Austin Air showcases in their standard Allergy Machine, and compresses them into a smaller, albeit equally impressive, package. The Allergy Machine Junior contains the same military-grade HEGA (combination military carbon/HEPA cloth) filter technology that makes the standard model such an effective chemical and odor filtering device. The differentiating factor between the two is that the Junior model offers a more cost-effective clean air solution to consumers with smaller rooms or a single room to purify. It specializes in assisting those with allergies or asthma to breathe easier across a smaller area. The Allergy Machine Juniors compact size makes it lighter and grants it an advantage in portability, though the cast rollers present on the standard model are absent on the Junior model.  Whereas the standard Allergy Machine is capable of filtering a 1500 sq. ft. room of average height, the Junior model is more suited to a 700 sq. ft. area.

 The Allergy Machine Jr. is encompassed on all sides by a perforated steel intake housing which enables it to draw and filter the greatest amount of air at a time, maximizing efficiency. Austin Air has covered the steel housing in a coat of baked-on powder paint which opens up options for color choices and, because the paint is powder-based, will not emit pollutants or a foul odor as can occur with more traditionally spray painted or plastic casings. 

The intake of air through the steel housing is only the beginning of Austin Airs progressive filtering system. Taking place over four stages, the filter system in the Austin Air Allergy Machine Jr. is designed to clean 99.97% of debris and contaminants from the air. During the first stage of filtration, air is drawn through the large particle pre-filter which removes non-microscopic debris such as pet dander, hair, and dust. Stage two contains the medium particle pre-filter which catches smaller particles that may have passed through the first filter, including mold spores and pollen. The third stage sees the medical HEPA filtration come into use. 30 square feet of authentic HEPA filter media lifts 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3 microns (300 times smaller than human hair) from the air. In the forth and final stage, air passes through the activated military-grade carbon cloth removing residual gases, odors, and chemicals including formaldehyde and ammonia.
