The English Renaissance Fake Songbook book differs from the songbooks I have prepared over the years. In this book, I added to each song chord charts for several instruments: ukulele, guitar, cigar box guitar tuned in gdg, guitalele, mandolin, baritone ukulele, and tenor banjo.Almost all Renaissance songbooks published in recent decades have been arranged for instrumental playing. But in the Renaissance, the most popular songs were meant to be sung with the accompaniment of an instrument. And because it comes again time to sing these songs, I have put more emphasis on the accompaniment.As I mentioned, I arranged the songs from this book for modern, the most popular instruments. I arranged all the songs anew to avoid the impoverished chords currently used. Instead of popular chords I, IV, and V7, I preferred to use Renaissance chords, for example, the VIm6 chord, etc. It is precisely these chords that enrich the songs with that extraordinary beauty of Renaissance harmony.Because I wanted to bring the music as close as possible to beginners, I arranged all the songs to be played in D and G major so that songs could be played using only a small number of chords.
